Last weekend I finally wanted to bring my camera up to speed with the latest Olympus OM-D E-M1 firmware update, because it has some interesting new features, e.g. a great new focus stacking possibility.
Well, at first I was not able to do so as the Olympus Updater software didn’t want to communicate with my camera. It continously showed a pop up showing some kind of mysterous fault code (0xFFFFFFFC). I browsed up and down the internet to find a description of what might be going wrong, and I tried a couple of things, but nothing worked.
In the end, I finally came to the conclusion that it was worth a try to delete the complete Olympus Updater software from my macbook and to reinstall it. And that did the trick! After doing so, it immediately recognized my camera and I was finally able to perform the firmware update. If you have the same problem just go to the Olympus website to download the latest version of the software. It might solve the problem for you as well.
